Geraint Thomas has publicly backed Team Sky principal Sir Dave Brailsford following a report that some of the team’s riders were considering asking him to resign.
Brailsford has been in the middle of a controversy about a medical package that was delivered to Team Sky at the 2011 Dauphine to be used on Bradley Wiggins. Media has reported today that riders are concerned about their image if the General Manager stays in his position, but many have come out in Twitter to deny it.
“It shouldn’t even need saying, but we all back Dave B (Dave Brailsford) 100%!!! I’ve known him a long time and I wouldn’t want anyone else leading Team Sky,” said Geraint Thomas in his personal account.
Peter Kennaugh agreed with Thomas, adding: “I think all the riders on team sky would join me in saying they are completely behind Dave Brailsford.”
“He’s the leader of our super Team Sky,” added Elia Viviani.
“100% behind Dave,” commented the winner of Strade Bianche Michal Kwiatkowski and Owain Doull added: “110% behind Dave.” Similar words came from Danny van Poppel: “100% Dave B !!!.”
