The new Kuwait-Cartucho.es team announced today the signing of Stefan Schumacher and is very likely that the German will be joined by his former teammate Davide Rebellin.

Aged 35, Schumacher spent this season at Christina Jewerly. He signed a one-year contract with his new team.

“For the young team he will be one of the important men for the structure, contributing experience,” the press release read.

“The experienced rider arrives at the team to be one of the references, coming from the German Continental team Christina Jewelry Pro Cycling. After an extensive sporting career, with victories in the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Amstel Gold Race and the Tour de Pologne, the German riders will be one of the pillars in the Asian and Spanish calendar, contributing his experience to the young riders and results for the team.”

The German rider tested positive for CERA during the 2008 Tour de France, losing the two time trial wins he clocked up there as part of the Gerolsteiner team. Traces of the substance were also detected in a sample given at the Olympic Games and he was banned until August 2010.

After serving a two year suspension, Schumacher struggled to find a big team. He raced with Continental teams between 2010 and 2014, then finally got back to the Pro Continental level in 2015 with the Polish squad CCC Sprandi Polkowice, but he returned to continental level this year with Christina Jewelry.
