Colnago has just launched the G3X, its first foray into gravel cycling, with full carbon frame and with space for 700×42 and 650bx467 tyres.
According to Colnago, the G3X has longer chainstays, a lower bottom bracket height and a longer fork, resulting in a shorter reach and increased stability for gravel grinding duties.
Moreover, with these changes in geometry, comes greater clearance that can now accommodate tires up to a whopping 42mm.
There’s full internal cable routing, the cables entering a port on the down tube, with flat mount disc brakes and 12mm thru-axles. Colnago has added a plastic bash guard to the down tube to protect the carbon from rock strikes.
The new G3X comes equipped with Shimano’s latest gravel specific GRX groupset, along 160mm hydraulic disc brakes all around.
Handlebar and stem come from Deda, the seatpost is Colnago’s own and the saddle comes from Prologo. Tyres are Pirelli Cinturato Gravel 40mm.
The price of G3X is around €5000 with a choice of two colours, metallic green/duck egg blue and carbon/white.
