Tesla presents Model B, a futuristic electric bike concept

0

Tesla has unveiled a new concept bike called the Model B, marking the iconic electric car brand’s first foray into the e-bike segment.

Developed in partnership with Kendall Toerner, the Model B features a sleek frame design that’s fitted with forward, side-facing and rear proximity LiDAR sensors that scan the surroundings in order to create a “protective bubble” around the rider, alerting the individual of any obstacles.

In addition, each wheel is equipped with its own dedicated motor, forming the Model B’s dual-drive system, while the spokes on the wheels are replaced by shock-absorbers, ensuring a smooth ride.

Additionally, the Model B’s frame also integrates foldout footrests and handlebars, whereby the handlebars don’t independently rotate, but rather detect force, allowing the rider to turn by simply applying more force to one side of the bike, while the front-wheel turns independently based on applied force.

The bike also comes with its own autopilot feature that allows the built-in AI system to take over, wherein multiple sensors on its frame can safely maneuver the bike. There’s a sleek integrated dashboard as well, which sits flush within the bike’s frame, allowing the rider to see route  metrics alongside navigation maps.

As mentioned, the Model B e-bike is purely a concept at this point, with no word on pricing or availability. But, disciples of Elon Musk and adherents to clean, micromobility are likely praying for its production.
