Ethan Hayter sprinted to victory in the second stage of the Tour de Romandie on Thursday, as Rohan Dennis retained the overall lead.

Hayter, who also won the prologue on Tuesday, edged out Ion Aberasturi and Fernando Gaviria at the end of the 168km ride in Echallens.
“We knew [the stage victory] was possible but I didn’t know how I’d be after [the crash] yesterday. I rode my way into the stage and the team were amazing today. It’s probably my nicest win – they took it on and we were in position to take the race on like that. To finish it off with a win is amazing.
Rohan Dennis holds a 14-second advantage over second-placed Felix Grossschartner in the general classification.
The third stage on Friday is a 165.1km ride starting and finishing in Valbroye.
