Nacer Bouhanni crash

Nacer Bouhanni is one of the peloton’s more controversial characters; getting into trouble on and off the bike.

He’s had rows off the bike over being denied entry to jewellery stores and even ended up boxing with hotel guests and sustaining an injury that kept him out of the Tour de France.

This time, Bouhanni found himself in the middle of another controversy on stage two of the Tour de l’Ain after clashing with HB BTP-Auber93 sprinter Anthony Maldonado.

The photo appeared to show Bouhanni using his elbow during the sprint, while Maldonado crashes heavily.

However, the Cofidis rider was subsequently given a green light as regards his victory, but the HB BTP-Auber93 team were upset about the incident.

Maldonado was taken to hospital after the crash, where he received surgery under general anaesthetic as he’s wounds were cleaned and stitched up.
