Peter Sagan wins stage 5 tour de france 2018

Peter Sagan will bid for a record-setting seventh green jersey after being named in Bora-hansgrohe’s team for the Tour de France.

Sagan is currently level with Erik Zabel (1996-2001) in having won the jersey for the Tour’s points classification on six occasions since making his debut on the Grande Boucle in 2012.

The Slovakian has won 11 Tour stages and will be accompanied on his green jersey quest by German debutant Maximilian Schachmann, a Giro stage winner last year who won two stages on the Tour of the Basque Country in the spring.

He also did well in the classics, finishing fifth in both the Amstel Gold Race and the Fleche Wallonne, and third in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

In Emmanuel Buchmann and Patrick Konrad Bora-hansgrohe also has two men in its Tour line-up that can target the general classification.

Buchmann was 3rd overall at the recent Critérium du Dauphiné, took 7th overall at the Tour de Romandie, was 3rd at Itzulia Basque Country and claimed 4th at UAE Tour.

Konrad was 3rd overall at Tour de Suisse this year and was 7th overall in last year’s Giro d’Italia.

Bora-hansgrohe for the Tour de France: Emmanuel Buchmann, Marcus Burghardt, Patrick Konrad, Gregor Muhlberger, Daniel Oss, Lukas Postlberger, Peter Sagan, Maximilian Schachmann.
