Niki Terpstra will not start in Paris-Roubaix after the Dutch rider suffered a heavy crash that took him out of the Tour of Flanders.
Terpstra stayed down for several minutes after the crash, his Direct Energie team confirming he had been taken to hospital.
The French team announced that Terpstra suffered a head traumatism and he lost consciousness at the moment of the crash.
The doctors also confirmed that the rider won’t be able to be at the start line of Paris-Roubaix, this Sunday.
Terpstra’s wife thanked fans for their supportive posts on social media.
“Thanks for all the posts! Just arrived at Niki in the hospital. He has a heavy concussion and will have to rest well for the time being. We’ll stay a night here to be sure. I am particularly pleased that I can still cuddle him. They were anxious moments!”
