According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vincenzo Nibali is heading to Astana-Premier Tech in 2022 as The Kazakh formation is in pole position to sign the Italian star.
The 36-year-old rider is currently in his second season for Trek-Segafredo, but this cooperation has not yet been too successful. The Sicilian hasn’t won a race in the Trek-Segafredo kit.
The Italian newspaper writes that there are two options on the table for Nibali. Astana-Premier Tech are interested in the experienced rider and have the best chances to bring back the Italian.
Nibali rode for Astana between 2013 and 2016 and then achieved his greatest successes, including winning the Tour de France (2014) and the Giro d’Italia (2013 and 2016).
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, a switch to Deceuninck-Quick-Step is also not out of the question, although many riders are currently associated with the Belgian formation.
