UAE Team Emirates has announced that will keep Tadej Pogacar in team colors through the end of 2024.

The Slovenian jumped to the WorldTour level with the Emirati team in 2019 and with it, he has taken the overall victories at the Amgen Tour of California, the Volta ao Algarve and the Volta a la Comunidad Valenciana. The 21-year-old has also stepped on the final podium of the Vuelta a Espana.

“I am happy to continue my relationship with UAE Team Emirates,” said Pogacar. “I turned professional here and I feel very comfortable with everyone. I believe in the team and I want to be part of this ambitious project. The next five years will be fundamental for the team and for my career, with the hope that they will be fruitful years for both parties.”

The rider had already inked a new deal until the end of 2022 and now has extended it for two more years. “There was a willingness on both sides to extend the contract once again,” said team principal Mauro Gianetti. “Pogacar represents the type of rider that each team would like: talented with a strong will to learn every day. Values that will project him to the top of world cycling.”

Pogacar won three stages at the 2019 Vuelta en route to finishing third place in the general classification.
