Pogacar to ride Milano-Sanremo and Tour of Flanders in 2022

Tadej Pogacar will participate in almost all the monuments next season: Milano-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia are on his program.

Of these four classics, he has never ridden the Tour of Flanders with the pros. He did with the U23’s and was 15th in 2018.

Pogacar, who was named Slovenia’s Sportsman of the Year, unveiled his provisional 2022 program during a team training camp in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. In addition to the monuments mentioned, it includes the UAE Tour, Vuelta a Espana and his own home race, the Tour of Slovenia. The latter race will serve as the final preparation for the Tour de France.

The two-time Tour de France winner will probably also ride the World Championships in Wollongong, Australia at the end of September.

Before Pogacar starts his season, in the UAE Tour, the Slovenian will first go to a training camp in Spain in January. Then follows altitude training. In doing so, he hopes to get ready for just as successful a season as last year.

“I want to achieve the same results as last season or better, but I don’t expect it. In addition, a fall can cause a long absence,” he said. “It’s going to be a gruelling season anyway.”
