Miguel Angel Lopez will miss the Almería training camp of his new team Movistar after the Colombian climber tested positive for the coronavirus.
Lopez tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, after having previously been in contact with someone who carried the virus. The Colombian was still negative just before his flight to Europe. It is unclear whether 26-year-old is struggling with any symptoms.
The rider decided at the end of last year to leave Astana for Movistar and will probably lead the Spanish team in the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana.
“We are now working on a program, but we still have to make decisions,” said Lopez. “I think I will start the season a little later, probably not until March.”
