Dupont speeds to stage 2 victory in Besseges after chaotic finish

The second stage of the Etoile of Besseges was won by Timothy Dupont as the rider from Bingoal-Wallonie Bruxelles turned out to be the fastest rider after a very chaotic final with a few falls.

The stage was over 150 kilometers long and took the peloton from Saint Geniès de Malgoirès to La Calmette.

In the final kilometre, Giacomo Nizzolo seemed to rush to victory, but the European champion lost some power on the final line and was eventually outsprinted by a strong Dupont. The final was also marred by a heavy crash 500 meters from the finish. Several riders crashed at high speed at the last roundabout.

The leader’s jersey will remain in the possession of Christophe Laporte.
