Fabian Cancellara’s final Tour of Flanders bike has been sold at auction for €16,100.

The Trek Domane SLR was valued at €8,440 but a Belgian bought it placing bids of €10,050 and €14,100 before the winning €16,100 bid. Cancellara’s bike was sold through online auctioner Catawiki.

Cancellara came second in last year’s Tour of Flanders, but after the event his bike was handed over to the Belgian TV broadcaster Sporza as part of a competition.

“It’s the bike I rode in Ronde van Vlaanderen, one of three special bikes: I have one, Trek has one and this one to be auctioned for a special cause,” Cancellara told Sporza last year.

Custom texture artwork on the top tube lists Cancellara’s podium results from Flanders. That’s three first place finishes and a third place.

  1. I thought 60 minutes said bikes with m0tors routinely sold for about $12,000… I guess Cancellara’s name drove the price of this one up…
