After the unexpected departure of Nairo Quintana, it seems that Winner Anacona and Dayer Quintana will also not ride for Arkea-Samsic in 2023.
Anacona (34) and Dayer Quintana (30) rode for Arkea-Samsic mainly in the service of Nairo Quintana, but he is leaving the team. Before his positive test for tramadol, it was announced that the Colombian had reached an agreement with the team for a three-year contract extension. This agreement was apparently not put on paper, so the two split.
It is unclear whether Anacona and Dayer Quintana will race next year, although it is possible that both Colombians will follow Nairo Quintana, who it still seems has no new team for 2023. Astana team manager, Alexander Vinokourov recently announced that he is not interested in the 32 year-old Colombian climber.
Arkea-Samsic also says goodbye to its fourth Colombian rider, Miguel Eduardo Flórez previously indicated that he will not be seen in the French team’s jersey in 2023. Nothing is known about his future either.
The French team signed with Cristian Rodriguez for the next two seasons, replacing Nairo Quintana with a younger climber.
“I’ve been following the team for two seasons and there is clearly a steady development. This was therefore decisive in my choice to join Arkéa-Samsic. I believe I can grow even further as a cyclist. I am a climber and I like tough competitions over mountainous terrain”, said Rodriguez.
