Jumbo – Visma announced Wout van Aert will be a part of its roster for the 2019 Tour de France. The Dutch team will fight for sprints and GC.
Steven Kruijswijk will target the general classification, after finishing fifth in last year’s edition, while Dylan Groenewegen will seek sprint stages wins.
Wout Van Aert will ride his debut Grand Tour after a successful spring season in which he achieved podium places in Strade Bianche and the E3 BinckBank Classic.
“Wout is ready for this next step,” Jumbo – Visma sportive director Merijn Zeeman said. “He makes our team even stronger. He hasn’t had a lot of race days and Wout has prepared himself in an ideal way. After the Tour, he will ride the Prudential Ride London and after that, his cyclocross season starts.”
Steven Kruijswijk will now be awarded the chance to fight for his own ambitions as the team confirmed Primoz Roglic would skip the Tour having battled to third at the Giro d’Italia last month.
Supporting Kruisjwijk in the mountains will be George Bennett and Laurens De Plus.
