Ivan Sosa claimed his first victory in Team INEOS colours by winning the queen stage at La Route d’Occitanie.
The young Colombian out-sprinted Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and Rigoberto Uran (EF Education First) in the Pyrenees to take the victory.
The result moved Sosa up to second overall, eight seconds back on Valverde, in addition to taking the young rider jersey.
“I needed this victory and it came at last. It makes the team happy and it’s a big achievement for me”, said Sosa. “The idea is to keep going this way. After the race, I will go back home and work to prepare for the second part of the season.
