Michael Storer (Team DSM) took the victory with a bold attack on the final stage at the Tour de l’Ain and secured the overall title.

For the Australian it was his first win as pro rider: “I can’t believe this. I waited four years for this.”

“I worked so hard for this win. Every year I got a little better and the team was always behind me. It was a long process, but we always knew it was possible. Whether it actually happens is something completely different. We had a good plan and knew exactly how to win this race. It went perfectly.”

DSM was one of the teams that ensured that the peloton stayed together on Saturday, despite the many attacks. It gave Storer the space to place his decisive attack about twenty kilometers from the finish.

“They really gave everything for me. So I’m really happy to be able to win here and finish it off for them.”
