Steven Kruijswijk has confirmed that he will miss the Giro d’Italia for the first time since 2012 and will target the Tour de France in 2018.

“We think that there is an opportunity to ride a good classification,” he said, speaking about the Tour. “I have competed in the Giro six or seven times. It is nice to focus on the Tour once again. During that race, there’s a lot coming at you, but I’m not new to the peloton. I can deal with it. As a team, we will go to the Tour for team successes and for this we have a very nice squad.”

The LottoNL-Jumbo team has announced that Dylan Groenewegen and Primoz Roglic have extended their contracts, and will remain on board until 2020.

Groenewegen will be back in 2018 to try to get stage victories at final sprints in the Tour, while Robert Gesink announced that he will ride the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France.
