Jasper Philipsen took third victory in less than a week at GP Denain, after also winning the Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen and Eschborn-Frankfurt.

Considered to be a rehearsal for Paris-Roubaix, the route 200km covered 12 cobbled sectors totaling in excess of 20km.

Several attempts at attacks were made with Michael Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers) was an animator, and stayed away — along with Stan Dewulf (AG2R Citroen) and Clément Davy (Groupama-FDJ) — from the main bunch until the final kilometer but they were caught by the rest with less than 300 metres to go.

Philipsen was the strongest one in the last metres and crossed the finish line ahead of Jordi Meeus (Bora-hansgrohe) and Ben Swift (Ineos Grenadiers).
