The succession of cancellations of races in Spain is forcing some riders to modify their plans at the start of the 2021 season.
This is how Vincenzo Nibali and Giulio Ciccone (Trek-Segafredo) will both return to France. The double winner of the Giro d’Italia will thus discover the Etoile de Bessèges (February 3-7) from next Wednesday, while Ciccone will take the start in the Tour de La Provence ( February 11-14). The two men will then meet again for the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var (19-21 February).
Nibali will ride both the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France in this season before the road race at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
He had initially been due to race the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and Volta ao Algarve in February, but both races have been postponed.
“I’ll be approaching things day by day, race by race. It’s a decision that I made because I didn’t really want to focus on just one objective,” said Nibali.
