Marc Soler may extend his contract with Movistar for the 2022 season even if the Spanish rider is on the radar of UAE Team Emirates.

Earlier this month, Spanish media reported that Soler will sign a contract with UAE Team Emirates after 7 years with Movistar. He would take his compatriot and teammate Antonio Pedrero to the team of Tadej Pogacar.

Officially, transfers may not be announced until August 1.

“I can’t say anything special about it now,” says Soler. “There are several options, including renewal at Movistar. It is true that the door has opened a little more this year, but I am not ruling out any option.”

Soler is still recovering from his heavy crash at the start of the Tour de France. Remarkably, in that crash, he broke bones in both elbows.

“The recovery is hard for me,” Soler admits. “There are fractures in both arms and that takes a lot of strength. I haven’t touched the bike yet. Yes, I’ve been on the rollers for a while, but mainly done muscle exercises. I also walk a lot.”
