Landa’s contract with Bahrain Victorious will end in December and Lefevere tries to secures the services of the experienced rider. The Quick-Step boss said in Het Laatste Nieuws last week that he was negotiating with a rider from the top 15 of the Tour de France. Louis Meintjes and Mikel Landa, who were in the top 15 at the time, are the only riders with an expiring contract.

Landa started his professional cycling career in 2011 with Euskaltel-Euskadi and is now in his thirteenth season as a professional cyclist. The Spaniard made his final breakthrough in 2015 with a third place in the Giro d’Italia. He finished third again at the Giro last year, while in 2017 and 2020 he was fourth at the Tour.

Landa got off to a good start this season with good results at the Ruta del Sol (2nd), Volta a Catalunya (5th), Itzulia (2nd) and Fleche Wallonne (3rd), but the Tour is currently running not satisfactory.
