A day of climbing and descending accompanied with rain and Remco Evenepoel to thrived. His opponents choked one by one and went into Red. While nothing is won yet, La Vuelta a Espana 2022 stage 7 should not be an issue for El jersey rojo.
La Vuelta a Espana 2022 stage 7 preview
A very atypical stage of 190 km is in view on this Friday. The breakaway of the day will have all the difficulty on the world to be formed firstly because nearly all teams will want to be represented and secondly because Team Quick Step Alpha Vinyl will be taking control to make sure Remco stays in red at the end of La Vuelta a Espana 2022 stage 7
The gummy bear of the day comes after 100kmof racing. While the breakaway of the day is expected to already be formed by then, there is no certainty on its success. While the peloton is expected to take a step back, Quick Step Alpha Vinyl could also decide take things on again for Remco to do his things for 90km!
This 22.4 km long climb is in the first category. This is mainly due to its length as the average gradient is 5.5 with maximum of 8%. Indeed we could see Remco dig another one in.

★☆☆☆☆ Ethan Hayter
His form so far in the Vuelta has got some eyebrows raised, but he would not have been selected for a grand tour by Ineos Grenadiers if he was not alteast 75% of what we have seen him done. 75% of his ability is enough for him to hold on to the bunch in the category 1 climb or atleast catch up with a daredevil descent and getting the best of everyone in a sprint.
★★☆☆☆ Luis Leon Sanchez
Whether from the breakaway or from the main group, the veteran Spaniard has his eyes set on this one. He could attack to form a reduced group at the foot of the climb of the day before co-opearting and then plunging into some dangerous, hang on for your life, descending.
★★★☆☆ Mads Pedersen
Long shot but unwise to ignore this man. For a pure sprinter he beat the odds when he finished second for the third stage of the day. behind roglic after some short climbs. He will give his best to hang on to the main group in most of the Puerto de San Glorio climb. Any catch up he wishes to do he can do it in the descent. The sprint should be a details for him, should he be in the mix.
★★★★☆ Remco Evenepoel
He is the favourite to win it this time if his team and him decide to take things on again. With no gradient of above 10%, he will again slowly but surely strangle his opponents with his pace, one by one. Having improved enormously his descending skills, he is the man to beat.
★★★★★ Vincenzo Nibali
Two years ago, Remco’s career was threatened after crashing by trying to follow Vincenzo Nibali in a descent. Two years on, the Shark is taking his last dive. He has his eyes set on a last grand tour stage victory and La Vuelta a Espana 2022 stage 7 with the fast descent leading to the finish, is one of his last chances.
