Even though it is the main sponsor of one of the largest cycling teams, Ineos is not the most popular company in the world. This has become clear once again in in Deinze, Belgium.
In the Flemish city, vehicles of the team sponsored by the chemical giant were damaged. Six of the vehicles were wrapped with foil or covered with graffiti and some were vandalized with the words “Ineos will fall.”
The slogan is being used by some groups protesting the construction of a new factory being built by Ineos in Antwerp.
Four suspects have already been arrested. All four suspects are 18 or older.
It’s not the first time Ineos has been targeted by environmentalists. An anti fracking group had threatened to spoil the team’s launch of Ineos as its new backer in May, 2019, at the Tour de Yorkshire.
However, while some protestors turned out at that event, their numbers were very small. They had threatened to upstage the team launch because Ineos had the rights to frack in some areas of Britain.
