Gonzalo Serrano won the opening stage of Vuelta a Andalucia ahead of Orluis Aular (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Daryl Impey (Israel Start-Up Nation).
Movistar played their cards perfectly in the difficult final road to Zahara de la Sierra. The Spanish team led the peloton in a tough fight with the Ineos-Grenadiers, reducing the group of favorites to just 30 riders.
Jose Joaquin Rojas did a perfect job for Serrano in the last kilometer, helping the 26-year-old to take his first victory of the season and the overall lead in Andalucia.
