Rumours linked Miguel Angel Lopez to Movistar for next season, but team boss Eusebio Unzue estimates the chance at “fifty-fifty”.
Lopez was previously linked to Bora-hansgrohe and AG2R La Mondiale, but now Movistar seems to be the Colombian climber’s new final destination.
“I can only say that we are very interested in Miguel Ángel López,” Unzue said. “If I have to add a percentage, I say that there is a 50% chance that López will sign for Movistar soon. We will find out more in a week”.
Movistar has already signed Ivan Garcia, Gregor Mühlberger, Gonzalo Serrano and Abner Gonzalez for 2021. Although Eduardo Sepulveda, Jürgen Roelandts, who retires, and Carlos Betancur have all left.
According to the UCI, Betancur has not been part of the Movistar team since the end of August.
