Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana, the first UCI road race in Europe, was won by Lorrenzo Manzin today after a bunch sprint.
After a ride of 98 kilometers, the rider of Total Direct Energie pushed his front wheel over the line just a little earlier than Mikel Aristi (Euskaltel-Euskadi). Amaury Capiot (Arkéa Samsic) finished third in the final sprint.
Manzin succeeds Alessandro Petacchi on the honors list, who was the fastest in 2005. After that, the competition disappeared from the calendar for years.
