We have often seen in the past younger brothers following in the footsteps of the older ones and this is what is happening in Colombia at Egan Bernal’s home with Ronald Stiven, Bernal’s younger brother.
Everyone remembers this little boy in Paris when, with tears in his eyes of joy, last year he hugged his brother Egan, winner of the Tour de France. Ronald has been riding a bike for a few years now and Egan is following him, taking him on the road and helping him train at home on the rollers.
Ronald is still very young, he turned 15 last June, but he certainly does not go unnoticed. More information on little Bernal, whom many in Colombia already consider a promise of cycling, was offered by Gianni Savio, general manager of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec: “Ronald is considered a real talent and Egan himself said he is very strong” .
Savio, who raised Egan Bernal in his team, has always kept in touch with the friends and family of the Tour de France winner.
“Unlike Egan, his brother is stronger in sprints, when there is a small group he is able to sprint in front of everyone. They are talking to me very well about him and I can’t wait to have him with us and make him grow with attention as we did with Egan.”
Being the brother of a great champion is not easy, particularly when you are the brother of the winner of a Tour de France and live in Colombia. Egan Bernal has decided to personally follow his brother who has not been registered with any team. The “little” Bernal has so far only participated in a few mountain bike races with the jersey of the IMCRDZ Zipaquira, the same team with which Egan started racing.
“Unlike Egan, his brother is stronger in sprints, when there is a small group he is able to sprint in front of everyone. They are talking to me very well about him and I can’t wait to have him with us and make him grow with attention as we did with Egan”, says Savio.
