Chris Froome hasn’t had the warmest welcome at this year’s Tour de France, and not the ideal opening stage as the reigning champion crashed in a chaotic last 10-km.
The British rider went flying over the barriers and landed safely on a grassy patch, relatively unharmed. He lost plenty of time, though, as the peloton went speeding off to try and join the sprint bunch on the final stretch.
There was plenty of action in the opening stage of #TDF2018, including a crash for @TeamSky’s @chrisfroome, but fortunately the four-time Tour de France winner escaped injury and managed to limit his losses #VelonLive pic.twitter.com/UGl7fKKnjP
