A major setback for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe and Primoz Roglic in the first rest day of the Tour de France as Aleksandr Vlasov suffered a broken ankle after his crash on Sunday and had to leave the race.
Vlasov crashed on a paved road in a stage full of gravel sections and ended up in a ditch at high speed. The 28-year-old rider was clearly in pain, but got back on.
“Somehow, he gets back on his bike and he gets going again.” 👏
This was a NASTY fall at high speed from Aleksandr Vlasov!

The Russian rider was able to return to the group of Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic. He seemed to escape unscathed, but today his team announced that he suffered a fracture to his ankle.
Vlasov is only the fourth abandon in this Tour de France, after Michele Gazzoli (Astana Qazaqstan), Casper Pedersen (Soudal Quick-Step) and Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek).
