Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) delivered a masterful performance to win stage 10 of the Tour de France, a grueling 165.3km mountain stage from Ennezat to Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy.
The British rider, fresh off his 2025 Giro d’Italia victory, soloed to his third career Tour stage win on Bastille Day, attacking from a breakaway on the final 3.3km climb averaging 8%.
The stage, featuring eight categorized climbs and nearly 4,450m of elevation gain, saw a 29-rider breakaway form early, including Yates and Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost). As the group whittled down, Yates seized his moment, launching a decisive move at the base of the final ascent. Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) chased valiantly, finishing 9 seconds back, while Healy took third at 31 seconds, earning the yellow jersey from Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) with a 4:20 gap over the GC favorites.
“I didn’t feel that good out there,” Yates admitted post-race, “but I took my chance at the bottom of the climb and gave it everything.”
His win, Visma’s strategic triumph, and Healy’s yellow jersey shake-up made stage 10 a Bastille Day spectacle, setting the stage for a thrilling Tour de France as the peloton heads to the Pyrenees after a rest day.
