Sam Bennett (Bora-hansgrohe) won his second stage of the Tour of Turkey in Eceabat today, stretching his overall lead at the top of the general classifcation.
Today’s stage had a tricky finish for a sprinter like Bennett, with numerous winding corners and fluctuating gradients to deal with, but he navigated his way through the final few kilometres almost effortlessly as he pedalled to victory.
The Bora-hansgrohe rider took a convincing win at the line, with teammate Felix Grosschartner claiming runner-up honors and Jonathan Restrepo (Manzana Postobon) finishing third.
“I said to my guys, that they should go and I will tell them on the climb if I feel strong enough or not cause the stage wasn’t so easy with the finale,” Bennett said.
“Well, I pushed hard and with Felix finishing in second place I think we showed another amazing team effort.”
