Roglic’s participation at the Vuelta in doubt

After his crash and subsequent abandon from the Tour de France, Primoz Roglic will focus on his next goals, according to his Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe team. However, at the moment it seems rather unlikely that the Vuelta fits into those plans.

Things went wrong for Roglic during stage 12 of the Tour. Alexey Lutsenko fell due to an obstacle on the road and Roglic was caught in the big crash. The Slovenian still finished the stage, but left the race next day.

Since then, it has been just quiet around Roglic, until Vuelta race director hinted last week at the participation of three-time winner. The Slovenian could be crowned co-record holder if he will win again, but in the team’s podcast, Ralph Denk (CEO of Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) remains reserved about Roglic’s start in the Vuelta.

“Primoz only trains a bit on the exercise bike, so I don’t think it is yet clear whether he will participate. I know that the director would like to have him in his race, but I cannot confirm that yet.”
