Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) powered to another victory on stage 7 of the Tour de France, a 197 km hilly stage from Saint-Malo to Mûr-de-Bretagne Guerlédan.
The Slovenian world champion outsprinted Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Oscar Onley (Team Picnic-PostNL) on the iconic Mûr-de-Bretagne climb, securing his 101st career win and retaking the yellow jersey.
The stage featured three categorized climbs, with the final ascent of Mûr-de-Bretagne proving decisive. UAE Team Emirates-XRG set a blistering pace, dropping race leader Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who had claimed yellow the previous day.
Pogacar’s teammates, including Jhonatan Narvaez and Tim Wellens, delivered a flawless lead-out, positioning him perfectly for the final 150-meter sprint. Despite a late crash impacting teammate Joao Almeida, Pogacar’s ferocious attack left rivals struggling, with only Vingegaard able to briefly match his pace.Pogačar’s win, his second of the 2025 Tour, moved him 54 seconds ahead of Remco Evenepoel in the general classification, with Vingegaard 1:17 back.
“We stuck to the plan, and we won,” Pogacar said, dedicating the victory to Almeida, who was sent for x-rays post-stage.
He’s learning to be patient too… Due to the strong headwind, Pogacar waited for the last 150 meters to launch his killer sprint and win the stage. Almeida wasn’t there after crashing but Narvaez did a perfect leadout. 👌#TDF2025 pic.twitter.com/c4f1wCZs4U
