Tadej Pogacar will show his rainbow jersey for the first time in a race on Saturday at the Giro dell’Emilia.
“This is one of my favorite periods of the season,” Pogacar looks ahead. “And that will be even more special now as world champion. What happened in Zurich was a dream for me. Whatever happens from now on, it doesn’t matter. We are having a great season as a team and we definitely want to continue that until the last race of 2024. We want to end on a high.”
The Slovenian always wants to win everywhere, and certainly his first race as world champion. On top of that, he has never won the Giro dell’Emilia. In his three previous participations he recorded an abandon and finished as runner-up twice, behind Enric Mas (2022) and Primoz Roglic (2023).
Pogacar can count on a strong team, with Adam Yates, Juan Ayuso, Jay Vine and Rafal Majka as the main riders in support. Sjoerd Bax is also there, as is Alessandro Covi.
