Nairo Quintana says that the route of the 2018 Tour de France suits him well and that he will be Movistar’s team leader in the race.
“Next season I will be the team leader in the Tour,” Quintana said. “This has been agreed with the directors and they will support me with the right teammates. I don’t know if Mikel will ride, but with Alejandro we had similar situations and together we came together for the good of Movistar.”
“There are a lot of stages that suit me and I like a big part of the course, except a few stages that we will have to be very focused, like the one on the cobbles. But I hope that with the good team we will have, we won’t have any trouble,”.
“It has a lot of mountains and I really like that. The time trial kilometres are few and I hope to be at a great level,” he commented.
“The stages in the north are going to be difficult, to be honest,” the Colombian explained.
“I’ve ridden a few races in this part of France and if I have riders that are really good for this conditions like (Daniele) Benatti, Imanol (Erviti) and (Jose Joaquin) Rojas, I will be very well supported.”
