Molano, along with the support of Matteo Trentin, navigated the final kilometre together, with Trentin jumping early forcing a reaction from the other sprinters before Molano came roaring along in the last dash to the line to win by a fraction.
The podium was rounded out by Jon Aberasturi (Caja Rural) and Vincenzo Albanese (Eolo-Kometa).
“Myself and Matteo were both up front for the final so we knew we would have cards to play. Aberasturi got a good jump and I instinctively reacted and just came through for the win”, said Molano.
“The team worked all day on the front and showed a lot of faith in me to deliver the sprint. There was a lot of stress in the early stages with the wind but we controlled it well and it all came back together. We have David [de la Cruz] up on the GC now too so our focus will be for him tomorrow.”
Stage 5 will take the riders from Comunero de Revenga to Lagunas de Neila (146km) where a summit finish will decide the final standings.
