Mikel Landa: I’d like to try to go for 4th place

If the Tour de France podium positions seem more or less established, behind the trio the fight is still open, especially for 4th position, with Joao Almeida reaching stage 20 just 27 seconds ahead of Mikel Landa.

“Tomorrow I’d like to try, to go for 4th place. If Remco doesn’t need me, I’ll try,” said Landa.

To try to repeat this fourth place he already reached in 2017 and 2020, the Spanish rider will have to see if his leader Remco Evenepoel givew up the fight for second place, something that, for now, is still in the sights of Soudal–Quick-Step.

“We have it in mind, of course,” adds Landa about that dispute for second place with Jonas Vingegaard. “Jonas has been focused on saving that 2nd place today, but tomorrow we can put forward a more aggressive race.”
