Ethan Hayter confirmed his great shape from Volta ao Algarve and won the second stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia in Alcalà la Real.

The Ineos rider finished 8 seconds ahead of Miguel Angel Lopez (Movistar) and took over the race lead from Lopez’s team-mate Gonzalo Serrano.
“I was in quite a good position, with [his teammate] Carlo [Rodriguez] in front after the longer climb,” said Hayter at the finish. “So I just followed. I had to make sure I kept a good position as it would be hard to move up on the cobbles.
“Everyone else around me just blew up. I blew up as well, but I had a gap so I had the motivation to hang on.”
Vuelta a Andalucia continues with another relentless day of climbing on stage 3, culminating in an uphill finish on the Villarrodrigo ascent.
