Flippo Ganna won the Tour de la Provence prologue, leading Ineos Grenadiers to a 1-2.
The Italian world champion rocketed across the 7.1-kilometre course in Berre-l’Etang, claiming victory by 12 seconds to move into an early race lead.
Ethan Hayter was able to dislodge long-time leader Tobias Ludvigsson (Groupama-FDJ) by just four tenths, but in the end there was no denying Ganna, who claimed a second time trial victory in five days.
“To come back to Provence and win again is really really nice. My first victory for a WorldTour team I did here so it’s nice to come back”, said Ganna. “It’s nice to see another win after three or four days and it’s a good start to the season. Now we look to the next stages to improve and work well with the team and we cross our fingers.
“Tomorrow is a really hard stage as there is a lot of wind. Maybe it’s possible to split the bunch in the wind. We’ll see but we have to be ready.”
¡Qué gran tiempo! Hace Filippo Ganna con 8,04 y registra la mejor contrarreloj de la jornada.
