“It was almost like a second rest day,” Remco Evenepoel summarizes stage 10 of the Tour de France.

The number two in the overall standings and holder of the white jersey looked back at a sprint stage that had no breakaway attempts.

“I was a little nervous because of the risk of echelons in the cross winds, but my team remained vigilant all day,” said the Belgian rider. “In the end, there were no gaps to deal with, nor any crashes, so everything went well”.

What does Evenepoel expect from stage 11 which comes with no less than 4,200 meters of elevation.

“We can expect a great fight tomorrow for the breakaway. We know it’s not an easy route, it goes up and down all the time. We can expect that there will be two races, one for the breakaway and one for the general classification. I think Romain Bardet will be extremely motivated to try to win, I hope for him that he will at least manage to get a position at the front to try his luck”.
