Remco Evenepoel delivered a masterclass performance, winning stage 5 of the 2025 Tour de France, a 33km individual time trial in Caen.

The world and Olympic time trial champion lived up to expectations, dominating the flat course with an average speed of 54km/h and finishing in 36:42, 16 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar.

Evenepoelโ€™s victory, his second Tour stage win, moved him to second overall in the general classification.

Pogacar, finishing second on the stage, seized the yellow jersey from Mathieu van der Poel, now leading Evenepoel by 42 seconds. European champion Edoardo Affini took third, 33 seconds behind Evenepoel.

The stage reshaped the GC battle, with Jonas Vingegaard struggling, finishing 13th and losing over a minute to Evenepoel.

โ€œThis win is revenge for last Saturday,โ€ Evenepoel said, referencing earlier setbacks.

As the Tour heads to stage 6โ€™s hilly 201.5km route, all eyes remain on the fierce rivalry between Evenepoel, Pogacar, and Vingegaard.
