Enric Mas has passed the first mountain test of the Vuelta with an impressive ride that propelled him to a third place in the general classification.

The Spanish cyclist has left a good impression on stage 4 and has always been in the lead group on the decisive final climb, even when Primoz Roglic made an important selection in the group.

“I think my place is there next to Roglic. The sensations have been very good and I hope to continue like this throughout the Vuelta,” Mas said after crossing the stage in fourth position. “We finished in a group of six or seven and the fact that there were differences is important.”

On the hardest sections of the climb, with slopes up to 20%, Enric Mas was the only one who was able to help Roglic.

“I collaborated with him a couple of times because Roglic was going well.”
