Arnaud Démare (FDJ) won the fourth stage of the Etoile des Besseges, outsprinting Alexander Kristoff (Katusha-Alpecin) and Christophe Laporte (Cofidis). Lilian Calmejane (Direct Energie) retains the overall lead.
The breakaway of the day was formed by Jelle Wallays (Lotto Soudal), Nico Denz (AG2R), Wesley Kreder (Wanty-Groupe Gobert), Preben Van Hecke (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise), Angel Madrazo (Delko Marseille Provence KTM), Fabricio Ferrari (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Kevyn Ista (WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect).
The seven built a maximum lead of more than three minutes but the peloton always remained in charge and caught the leaders at about two kilometers from the finish.
In the sprint, Demare once again proved to have the better legs and crossed the line ahead of Kristoff and Laporte.
Lilian Calmejane remains in first place in the general classification.
