Stage 8 of the Vuelta has witnessed a unique moment with 15 kilometres from the finish, on the approach to the Sierra de Cazorla, when a group of deer crossed the road right when the peloton was riding there.
Txomin Juaristi and Giulio Ciccone were the most affected as they crashed because of the deer, but the problems did not end there. According to the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, when the Basque rider was being treated by the medical car, a second herd crossed and a deer got caught in the roof rack of the team’s car and caused significant damage to two bicycles.
Juaristi suffered superficial abrasions on his back and a blow to his lower back, after an initial examination by the team doctor at the hotel.
¡Y otra caída más! 🤦♂️
