Carlos Barbero (Movistar) claimed stage four in the Vuelta a Burgos. The Spaniard bested Gianni Moscon (Team Sky) and Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors).
Mikel Landa (Team Sky) keeps leading the General Classification with one stage to go.
“I was here at the finish last Saturday to ride the climb like four, five times. The people guarding the place didn’t allow me in, and I had to tell them I was preparing myself for the Vuelta a Burgos. In the end they let me in and I could climb this several times, check my sprinting distance – everything went perfectly thanks to that”, said Barbero.
“If they had told me I could choose one stage to win in this year’s race, I’d have selected this finish. The Castillo climb is really beautiful, but I wanted to repeat my success on this climb in 2015. It was quite more surprising that time, while today’s was more about the process – I thought about this finish for weeks.
