Ineos Grenadiers will start on Wednesday with a star team in the Etoile de Besseges. In addition to former Tour de France winners Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas, world time trial champion Filippo Ganna is also at the start.
For Bernal it will be his first race since last year’s Tour de France, when he gave up with a back injury. The Colombian climber has now recovered and building form for July. Alongside Bernal, Thomas and Ganna, Owain Doull, Ethan Hayter, Michal Kwiatkowski and Salvatore Puccio also will be at the start.
Etoile de Besseges (3-7 February) is the first “big” stage race of the European season due to the cancellation of the Vuelta a la Comunitat Valenciana, the Ruta del Sol and the Volta ao Algarve. There are eleven WorldTour teams at the start.
