Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) claimed his first Tour de France win on the brutal stage 14 from Pau to Luchon-Superbagnères.
The Pyrenean stage, featuring Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin, Col de Peyresourde, and a summit finish, saw Arensman solo to victory, beating Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) by 1:08 and Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma-Lease a Bike) by 1:12.
Pogacar extended his yellow jersey lead over Vingegaard to 4:23, while Remco Evenepoel (Soudal–Quick-Step) abandoned, shaking up the GC.
Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe) moved third at 7:53. Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious) solidified his polka dot jersey lead, and Jonathan Milan (Lidl–Trek) kept the points classification.
“It’s unbelievable, a dream come true to win here. I felt strong on the final climb, and when I saw the chance, I just went for it,” said Arensman. He also praised teammate Carlos Rodriguez, noting, “Carlos was incredible, pacing me perfectly on the Peyresourde. This win is as much his as mine.”
“We can be really proud. It’s pretty nice to win!” 🏆
