Tadej Pogacar powered to a monumental victory in stage 4 of the Tour de France, securing his 100th professional win in a breathtaking uphill sprint in Rouen.

The 174.2km stage from Amiens Métropole featured a challenging finale with five categorized climbs in the last 50km, setting the stage for an explosive showdown among cycling’s elite.

Pogacar, the reigning Tour champion, showcased his dominance by launching a decisive attack on the 800m Rampe Saint-Hilaire, 5.5km from the finish. Only Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) could initially follow, but a chasing group including Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep), and others bridged the gap, leading to a dramatic seven-man sprint.

Pogacar’s perfectly timed acceleration in the final meters outpaced Van der Poel, who took second, and Vingegaard, who finished third, earning the Slovenian his 18th Tour stage win.

“This was pure, classic Tour-de-France-style explosive,” Pogacar said post-race. “To win at the Tour is incredible, in this [world champion’s] jersey even more, and to have 100 victories is amazing.”

Despite the victory, Pogacar remains tied on time with Van der Poel in the general classification, with the Dutchman retaining the yellow jersey. Vingegaard sits third, eight seconds back.

Stage 5 time trial in Caen is poised to shake up the GC battle. As the Slovenian eyes a fourth Tour title, his rivals will need to dig deep to challenge his relentless form.
